Custom Furniture:

Experimentation to Find the Perfect Fit

When we first began designing together in 2016, we experimented with age-old materials like glass, stone, metal, wool, and wood, studying new ways they could take shape and interface by creating custom furniture pieces. We began incorporating these pieces into our architecture and interior design projects, often to resolve a functional need or to create a unique aesthetic composition when off-the-shelf products didn’t quite fit.

We’ve worked with specialty local fabricators in and around New York, marveling at the craftsmanship and skill with which they create pieces - whether that’s finished products or component parts.

Below are examples of these early works, many of which inspired the collection we now offer at our sister company, DuroDeco - a curated set of furnishings and decor by Dunham Robinson with an emphasis on living small.

Using familiar, classic materials in unusual, creative ways has been our way of developing a contemporary design language that feels at once timeless and innovative.
