Since its opening, the Dallas-based boutique Forty Five Ten has cultivated a reputation for unconventional and discerning apparel and objects that merge fashion, art, and design. The brand’s New York flagship–now closed–was located in a series of four distinct storefronts at the massive Hudson Yards retail development, and totaled 16,000 square feet. For this destination, we designed and fabricated a modular clothing display system to showcase their eclectic apparel in a manner befitting of their new space.

The kit-of-parts-style system hangs from a grid of points welded to the ceiling at regular intervals. The design solution allowed the boutique to reconfigure and relocate the system—and the store’s spatial aesthetic—from season-to-season.

We cultivated a palette of mirror-polished and cobalt blue powder-coated clothing rods, glass shelves, fabric-wrapped mirrors, and suspended cases.

Designing for Flexibility in Fashion

The resulting effect was an elevated backdrop that, like a thoughtfully framed painting, showcases the boutique’s curated collection of wares.
